College volleyball: Undefeated Community Colleges of Spokane opens conference play with sweep

Alisha Straw (Freeman High) and Brooklyn Rainer combined for 27 kills Wednesday and undefeated Community Colleges of Spokane opened Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball play with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-17 sweep of host Big Bend in Moses Lake.

Straw and Rainer both hit .524 and the Sasquatch (13-0) hit .374 as a team.

Lindsey Russell (Mead High) added 25 assists, 16 digs and two aces for CCS. Demary Sugg backed up Russell at setter with 18 assists and nine digs.

Sadie Nielsen had seven kills and Madison Shrope (Oakesdale) 21 assists for the Vikings (3-11, 1-1).
