Fire roundup: Spokane Valley crews rescue two women trapped after car rollover

The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to several reports of brush fires, natural gas leaks, downed electrical lines and a vehicle accident that required firefighters to extricate two women from a vehicle.

On Saturday morning fire crews responded to a report of a one-vehicle rollover on the 100 block of North Raymond Road. When they arrived on the scene, two women, both in their 80s, were trapped inside a sedan.

The driver said she accidentally drove through her parking spot and accelerated the car through a retaining wall at a low speed. The vehicle rolled onto a roof, landing 6 feet below onto a guardrail. The driver and passenger were trapped in the car for 30 minutes, while crews stabilized the vehicle, removed the windshield and extricated them. The driver and passenger were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
