Deputies search for Market Street hit-and-run suspect
Spokane County deputies are searching for Andrew D. Clifton, a 34-year-old man suspected in a hit-and-run accident Thursday evening that left a man with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies believe Clifton was speeding and driving recklessly in a red 1997 Ford Explorer at about 5:40 p.m. Thursday along the 7200 block of North Market Street.
The SUV swerved but struck a Jeep at the corner of Market and Wilding. The Explorer then crashed through a fence, drove across a parking lot and struck a man.
A passerby applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg to stop severe bleeding as Clifton fled the scene on foot, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Deputies used dogs to search the area, but they could not track the suspect.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 509-477-3237.
