Friday’s openings: Kids, killers and night class

A disbelieving Yeti, a masked murderer in an amusement park and Kevin Hart — wow, what a week of movies we have before us. According to the national movie-release schedule, Friday breaks down like this:

“Hell Fest” : Kids in a horror-themed amusement park get targeted by a masked killer, and everybody think it’s just part of the show. Sounds a little like the current political atmosphere.

“Night School” : The ubiquitous comic Hart plays a guy required to get his GED in night classes taught by the toughest of teachers (Tiffany Haddish of “Girls Trip”). What do I have to do to pass this course?

“Smallfoot” : In a turnabout, it’s a Yeti who thinks that humans don’t exist — until he finds out the truth. Maybe because the snow is melting.

Also on the schedule and potential local openings (but playing in far fewer theaters):

“Little Women” : A modern version of Louisa May Alcott’s novel, starring the likes of  — ‘80s star Lea Thompson?

“The Old Man & the Gun” : Robert Redford plays the title character. Fitting for an elderly Sundance Kid.
