Spokane County jobless rate inches up in August

Spokane County’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 4.9 percent in August, although the net number of jobs grew.

The county added 381 jobs during August, according to the Washington Employment Security Department.

The number of people working was 223,444, state figures indicated. The number of people looking for work was 11,443.

Spokane County’s unemployment rate was 4.8 percent in July and 5.2 percent in August 2017.
