Roast House, Evans Brothers, Thomas Hammer win Golden Bean awards

Spokane’s Roast House and Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters in Sandpoint won a total of nine medals at the recent Golden Bean North America awards.

The awards were held in Portland on Sept. 22. There were 10 categories in all, and Roast House entered six of them, taking home gold, silver and bronze medals.

Here’s what Roast House won:

Gold, in the Organic Espresso category, for its single-origin Ethiopia Monaco Waeno

Silver, in the Short-Black Espresso category, for its Coast to Coast blend, created by roaster Kyle Siegel

Bronze, in both Single-Origin Espresso and Short-Black Espresso categories, for its Daterra Masterpiece Catuai 62, a.k.a. “Pineapple Coffee”

Bronze, in the Milk-Based category, for its First Avenue Blend

Bronze, in the Pour-Over category, for its single-origin “washed” Ethiopia Suke Quto

Roast House has won a dozen medals at the Golden Bean awards in the last four years. This year, all six coffees it entered won medals. Last year and the year before that, two of the five coffees it entered won medals. The first year it participated, Roast House won medals for three of the six coffees it entered.

Evans Brothers won three bronze medals this year. Here are the award-winning Evans Brothers’ coffees and their categories:
