Spokane man gets 3 years in federal prison in Idaho sex sting

A Spokane man was sentenced this week to three years in federal prison after he was convicted for traveling to Idaho with intent to engage in sex with a minor.

Jesse L. Van Orsow, 29, of Spokane, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Court Judge David Nye in Coeur d’Alene. He pleaded guilty in August.

According to court records, Van Orsow exchanged email and text messages with what he thought was a 13-year-old girl. However, the girl was actually an undercover detective.

Van Orsow then traveled from Spokane and was arrested when he arrived in Idaho, Assistant Attorney Bart Davis said in a news release. After his release from prison, Van Orsow must serve seven years of supervised release.
