Quarterback Battle for Rocky Mountain

Rocky Mountain College’s spring football game is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 and the big question on everyone’s mind is who the starting quarterback will be. The spring game is a chance for players to impress their coaches and potentially win jobs before August. In the 2018 season, the question of who the quarterback would be was not answered until midway through the season. Jacob Bakken won the starting job but he is gone, so the pick for the starting job will likely come down to Drew Korf and Nate Dick. Korf will lead the white team while Dick will lead the green on Saturday, and while everyone just wants to know who the starter will be, Head Coach Chris Stutzriem that no matter which young man has a better day on Saturday, he will not name a start at the end of spring drills. “No, we won’t until after our fall scrimmage in August. But, I do want to have a starter in place after that, they both know that, we’ve been open and honest about it,” explained Stutzriem. “But, I want to give them every opportunity to do that. Nate is a guy that you’d love to make him live in the scrimmage and to see what he can do because that’s a big part of his game, but I also want to see him in the pocket because I know he’s athletic enough to make plays. But, we don’t lose a lot with Drew in that ability either. They both bring a lot of great things to the table but it’s been a lot of fun to be back and coaching them.” The spring game is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Herb Klindt Field.
