A backyard shed caught fire Friday in east Spokane and fire investigators are looking into what caused it. No one was injured.

Dorothy Gustafson, the homeowner, said at about 6:35 p.m., a friend came into her house at 2307 E. 5th Ave. and told her the shed was on fire.

Gustafson said she went outside and saw a few flames but the house was unharmed.

A plume of smoke rose over Interstate-90 for about half an hour.

The shed, which Gustafson said contained her stepson’s belongings, was heavily damaged.
