Prep baseball: Dayton Wells helps Mead knock off Lewis and Clark

Mead 6, Lewis and Clark 3: Dayton Wells went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs as the visiting Panthers (8-5) beat the Tigers (3-10) at Hart Field on Monday. Dylan Jordan went 3 for 4 with a run and Elijah Hainline went 2 for 3 with a double and a run for Mead.

After LC’s Michael Flaherty led off the bottom of the seventh with a single, Mead’s Braeden Cordes came on in relief and retired the next three Tigers batters, including back-to-back strikeouts, to seal it.

Central Valley 11, Ferris 2: Kyle Clay 4 for 4 went with three RBIs, Jack Leary allowed one earned run with nine strikeouts over six innings and the Bears (11-2) beat the visiting Saxons (8-5) on Monday.

Mt. Spokane 7, University 0: Stu Flesland scattered four hits over 6 2/3 innings and had 10 strikeouts and the Wildcats (12-1) beat the visiting Titans (7-6) on Monday. Quentin Ayers went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Brady Hill went 1 for 3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs for Mt. Spokane, which has won 10 in a row.

Shadle Park 12, North Central 1: Ryan Schmidt and Zach Krotzer knocked in two runs apiece and the visiting Highlanders (8-5) topped the Indians (3-10) on Monday. Julian Gonzalez allowed one run on four hits with three strikeouts for Shadle Park.

Gonzaga Prep 10, Rogers 0: Lucas Struck went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and the visiting Bullpups (5-8) beat the Pirates (1-12) on Monday. Ryun Cross struck out five and allowed two hits over three innings.

Nonleague

Clarkston 5, Orofino 4: Jace Wessels and Peyton Dunham each had two hits as the Bantams (6-5) beat the visiting Maniacs.

Chewelah 11, Medical Lake: Jake George went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Carl Oman went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and the visiting Cougars (13-3) beat the Cardinals (3-12).
