U.S. News and World Report names Providence Sacred Heart as region’s top hospital in 2019

U.S. News & World Report has named Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital the top hospital in the region.

U.S. News evaluated data from more than 4,000 medical centers and survey responses from 30,000 physicians to rank Eastern Washington hospitals in adult specialties like cancer, cardiac and orthopedics, according to a news release.

Survival rates, patient safety, specialized staff and hospital reputation were factored into the U.S. News’ rankings for 2019, which are part of its portal designed to assist patients with making informed decisions about their health care.

U.S. News also recognized Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center as high-performing in eight adult procedures and conditions, some of which are aortic valve surgery, hip replacement, congestive heart failure and lung cancer surgery.

Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital is the second-largest hospital in the state and is Spokane’s largest employer.
