Battlin’ Bears Women’s Soccer picked No. 6 in Cascade Collegiate Conference’s Preseason Poll

CORVALLIS, Ore., August 7, 2019 – Rocky Mountain College earned a No. 6 ranking in the Cascade Collegiate Conference’s Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Battlin’ Bears received 107 points.
The Battlin’ Bears went 11-6-2 last season as they advanced to the semifinals of the CCC Tournament before losing to Eastern Oregon University.
Eastern Oregon was picked at the top of the rankings for the second year in a row with nine first place votes and 163 total points. Northwest University, the winner of the 2018 CCC Tournament Championship, finished second with three first place votes and 142 points.
The Battlin’ Bears will return key starters such as first team all-conference forward Lauryn Gamache who led the Cascade Collegiate Conference in points per game (2.17). Her 14 goals and 11 assists also led the Battlin’ Bears in both categories. Second team all-conference defender Rita Marshall will also return alongside goalkeeper Maia Wetzel who earned an honorable mention all-conference selection.
The 2019 season will be the 18th year for head soccer coach Richard Duffy.
Rocky will begin the 2019 season on Aug. 29 against Hope International University in Fullerton, California.
