Area roundup: Oregon hands Idaho first loss in Little League World Series regional
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – Gavin Price hit a bases-clearing double in the fourth inning to lead Sprague Little League of Salem past Coeur d’Alene 8-5 at the Little League World Series Northwest regional on Thursday.
Coeur d’Alene, the Idaho representatives for the second straight year, led Oregon 3-1 through three innings, before Oregon scored four in the fourth to take the lead.
Oregon also added a pair of runs in the fifth and six innings. Idaho scored twice in the bottom of the sixth but couldn’t close the gap.
Jayson Ross went 4 for 4 with a pair of runs and RBIs for CdA, which faces Bothell, Washington, in an elimination game at noon Friday.
Idaho defeated Washington 5-2 on Monday. The winner will advance to face Oregon on Saturday with a berth in the Little League World Series, which begins Thursday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on the line.
