California insurance company acquires Spokane-based Buck & Affiliates

Alliant Insurance Services Inc. has acquired longtime Spokane insurance agency Buck & Affiliates.

Buck & Affiliates, which employs 10 people, will retain its name and continue serving clients from its local headquarters.

The company’s acquisition of Buck & Affiliates will give the Newport, California-based company its second office in Spokane.

“We remain highly committed to building a powerful regional service center in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho, and Buck & Affiliates will play a key role in our ongoing growth and expansion,” Tom Corbett, chairman and CEO of Newport, California-based Alliant, said in a statement.

Buck & Affiliates, founded in 1982, offers personal and commercial lines of insurance for a broad range of companies. It also has a large presence in the health and fitness industry with a national portfolio of gyms and fitness studios.

Gary Buck, president and CEO of Buck & Affiliates, said the merger with Alliant will allow the company to serve more clients.

“It gives us a real advantage because of their size,” Buck said. “They represent many more carriers than we do. It gives us an opportunity to provide much more competitive pricing to our clients.”

Alliant provides property and casualty insurance, workers’ compensation, employee benefits, underwriting, financial products and services to clients nationwide. It has offices in 26 states, including six in Washington.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
