What’s Hoppin’ This Week: There are (h)options aplenty for Christmas parties

If you are looking for a place to show off those lovely Christmas sweaters, you’ll have plenty of opportunities this week. Here is a rundown of Christmas parties at local breweries and beer bars throughout the region.

This is not a complete list, so be sure to check in with your favorite spots to see if they are getting in the holiday spirit even if they aren’t noted here.

Wednesday

12 String Brewing (11616 E. Montgomery Drive, Spokane Valley): 6-9 p.m. with trivia starting at 7.

Thursday

For the Love of God Brewing (2617 W. Northwest Blvd.): 4-8 p.m. Featuring holiday-inspired beer releases and prizes for the three best sweaters.

Whistle Punk Brewing (122 S. Monroe St.): 4-9 p.m. Whistle Punk will be releasing several winter and barrel-aged beers.

Beerocracy (911 W. Garland Ave.): 5-9 p.m. Beerocracy will have supplies on hand to turn any article of clothing into a Christmas statement piece. Yakima’s Bale Breaker Brewing will be on-site for a tap takeover, as well. Bring your own item to decorate.

McClain’s Pizzeria (10208 N. Division St., Spokane): 6-8 p.m. Leavenworth’s Icicle Brewing will be hosting a tap takeover and judging the best sweaters.

Friday

Westwood Brewing (8162 W. Main St, Rathdrum): 9 p.m.-midnight. Prizes for the best sweaters and karaoke all night.

River City Brewing (121 S. Cedar St.): 6-9 p.m. The annual Marmot Fest will featuring nine variants of the classic Midnight Marmot Porter, as well as live music and a covered cigar tent for anyone interested in porter and cigar pairings.

Saturday

Post Falls Brewing (112 N. Spokane St., Post Falls): 6-10 p.m. The event will feature live music, drawings, a food truck and beer specials.

The Filling Station Post Falls (306 N. Spokane St.): 6-11 p.m. Several limited-release, barrel-aged beers will be on tap from Seattle’s Fremont Brewing and California’s Firestone Walker Brewing.

Mad Bomber Brewing (9265 N. Government Way, Hayden): 6-9 p.m. This event will include a family friendly white elephant gift exchange for those who sign up in advance.

Monday

Iron Goat Brewing (1302 W. Second Ave.): 7-10 p.m. This is technically a Festivus party to celebrate everyone’s favorite TV holiday. Enjoy live music, food and beer specials.

The Crown and Thistle (107 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene): 6:30-8:30 p.m. The Inland Northwest chapter of the Beer Choir will be on hand to lead a Christmas carol sing-along while enjoying traditional English ales.

Tuesday

Bellwether Brewing (2019 N. Monroe St.): 3-6 p.m. Stop by to enjoy live music and sing-along Christmas caroling and the traditional reading of “The Christmas Story.”

Other events

Kellogg’s Radio Brewing Co. is teaming up with Post Falls’ Republic Kitchen+Taphouse for a beer dinner at Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center (405 N. William St., Post Falls). Beginning at 5:30 on Wednesday, enjoy five courses paired with Radio brews. Seating is limited; reservations are required and available through the Facebook event page.

The Growler Guys (225 W. Appleway Ave., Coeur d’Alene) is hosting another “Pint for a Pint” blood drive event on Thursday from 1:30 -3:30 p.m. The blood mobile will be in the parking lot, and anyone who donates will receive a voucher for a free pint of beer from the Growler Guys.

Also on Thursday, Steel Barrel is hosting the launch party for the newest member of its brewery incubator, the Golden Handle Project. Newly released beers will be on tap, and the brewers will be on-site to talk about this new addition to the Spokane brewing scene.
