Commuters in the Spokane and Coeur d`Alene areas could face treacherous, snowy road conditions Thursday morning, according to a winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service.

A strong and wet winter storm is expected to hit the region tonight and last into the weekend, according to NWS. Snowfall is projected after 1 a.m. Thursday, resulting in an accumulation of 1 to 3 inches in and around Spokane by noon.

A rain and snow mix late Thursday morning in Spokane is forecast to turn into rainfall in the afternoon and evening, according to the NWS.

Spokane is projected to see rain Friday through Saturday, with a smaller chance of rain on Sunday, the NWS said.
