Boys basketball: Shadle Park advances to semifinal of District 8 3A tourney

Shadle Park 57, Kamiakin 54: DeMarius Brown scored 19 points with 12 assists and 11 rebounds and the visiting Highlanders (12-9) defeated the Braves (13-9) in a District 8 3A first-round game on Tuesday. Shadle Park travels to GSL No. 1 seed Mt. Spokane on Friday, while Kamiakin plays in a loser-out on Tuesday.

Kennewick 61, North Central 50: Ayoni Benavidez scored 23 points and the visiting Lions (12-10) downed the Indians (9-12). Leon Sayers led North Central with 28 points. The Indians face a loser-out game on Tuesday.

District 7 2B at West Valley HS

Chewelah 56, Reardan 55: Jake George hit a bucket with 5 seconds left to lift the Cougars (11-10) over the Indians (8-12). George finished with six points. Jaron Baldwin led Chewelah with 18 points while Zane Perleberg paced Reardan with 23. Chewelah faces Liberty in a second-round game on Thursday.

Tekoa-Rosalia 69, Wilbur-Creston 51: Craig Mueller scored 22 points and the Timberwolves (14-7) beat the Wildcats (6-13). Riley McLain added 16 points for T-R while Brayden Seylor led W-C with 25 points. Tekoa-Rosalia faces St. George’s in a second-round game on Thursday.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 54, Kettle Falls 49: Bryce Kelly scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half to help the Broncos (8-13) hold off the Bulldogs (9-12). Charlie Andrews scored 19 points for Kettle Falls. LRS faces Colfax in a second-round game on Thursday.

Asotin 69, Davenport 51: The Bulldogs face Northwest Christian in a second-round game on Thursday.

Regular season

West Valley 76, Cheney 57: Nick Drynan scored 30 points and the Eagles (13-7, 6-6) defeated the Blackhawks (11-9, 6-6) in a Great Northern League matchup. Bryan Andrews added 16 points for West Valley. Kaiden Custer had 20 points and Camden VerStrate added 16 points for Cheney.

Clarkston 60, East Valley 28: Gus Hagestad scored 14 points and the Bantams (13-7, 10-2) defeated the visiting Knights (2-18, 0-12) in a GNL matchup. Tru Allen, Austin Roueche and Brandton Chatfield scored 10 points apiece for Clarkston.

Idaho

Moscow 66, Lewiston 61 (OT): Gabe Quinnett had 33 points, including six 3-pointers, and Benny Kitchel added 12 points and the Bears (12-3) beat the visiting Bengals (8-11) in a nonleague game. Donaven Santana hit five 3s and finished with 29 points while George Forsmann added 12 points for Lewiston.

Priest River 43, Bonners Ferry 42: Brandon McCracken scored the go-ahead bucket and the Trojans (1-13, 1-5) edged the visiting Badgers (8-10, 2-3) in an Intermountain League game. Keegan Hegel led Priest River with 12 points while McCracken finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Seth Bateman scored a game-high 25 points for Bonners Ferry.

Genesis Prep 71, Clark Fork 19: Jonny Hillman scored 19 points, Kon Ajang added 13 and the visiting Jaguars (11-8) defeated the Wampus Cats in a nonleague regular season game.
