Two injured in shootout outside Wapato

The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a gun battle between two vehicles outside Wapato that left two people hospitalized Tuesday.

The shootout was reported to 911 at 9 p.m. at the intersection of Egan Lane and North Track Road, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

A few minutes later 911 callers reported two gunshot victims in the parking lot of the Roadrunner Gas Station, 705 W. First St. in Wapato, according to the release.

Deputies said a 37-year-old Selah woman and a 37-year-old man from the Wapato area were shot. The two were hospitalized, according to the release, a third person ran from the scene and was not located.
