Up to 4 inches of snow expected in Spokane by Wednesday evening; even more in Pullman, Coeur d’Alene

Residents of Spokane, Coeur d’Alene and the Palouse should brace for more snow throughout the week.

The National Weather Service said a new storm system is expected to arrive Tuesday, with snowfall heaviest in the afternoon and evening.

Temperatures will range from 21 degrees to 29 degrees on Tuesday, and 18 degrees to 33 degrees on Wednesday, the weather service said.

The weather service said Spokane will get 3 to 4 inches of snow between 10 a.m. Tuesday and 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Coeur d’Alene will get 4 to 6 inches of snow and Pullman will get 6 to 8 inches during that same period, the weather service said.

Slick roads are expected to affect commutes in the region Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

The weather service said Thursday will be dry and cold, with some lighter snow showers, a low temperature of 7 degrees and a high of 32 degrees.

Friday will bring more widespread snowfall and temperatures between 21 degrees and 27 degrees.

Travel will be affected over the weekend as still more snow blankets the region, the weather service said.

Those traveling west should encounter relatively light precipitation on the Snoqualmie Pass.

The weather service said a mix of rain and snow is expected there throughout the week and weekend, with Thursday being mostly sunny.

The weather service said Monday morning brought bitter cold temperatures to a few places in the Inland Northwest, notably Deer Lake with reported 4 degrees and southwest of Blanchard, Idaho, with a reported minus 4 degrees.
