Top 25 roundup: Asia Durr scores 47 points, No. 3 Louisville women win

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Asia Durr scored 47 points to match her school record, the first 22 during No. 3 Louisville’s 36-point opening quarter in a 92-62 victory over No. 10 North Carolina State on Thursday night.

Durr made an Atlantic Coast Conference-record 11 3-pointers and also set a career high with 17 attempts. The senior All-America guard was 6 of 8 from long range in the first quarter alone as the Cardinals (26-2, 13-2) started 14 of 19 (74 percent) from the field. Durr also scored 47 points at Ohio State in November 2017.

Durr had as many points (28) as the Wolfpack (24-4, 11-4) at halftime, and Louisville quickly put the matchup of the league’s Nos. 2 and 3 teams out of reach. She finished 17 of 27 from the field and the Cardinals shot 52 percent, hitting a school-record 15 3-pointers.

Dana Evans added 15 points, and Sam Fuehring had 12 for Louisville.

Elissa Cunane had 17 points for N.C. State.

(5) Mississippi State 76, LSU 56

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Teaira McCowan had 25 points and 13 rebounds, Jordan Danberry added 18 points and Mississippi State cruised past LSU.

The 6-foot-7 McCowan was spectacular on her senior night, shooting 10 of 12 from the field. She also added three assists, two blocks and thrilled the crowd when she stole an LSU pass, led the fast break and scored on a layup before breaking into a broad grin.

Mississippi State (26-2, 14-1 Southeastern Conference) clinched at least a share of the regular-season title and can win the league outright with a victory at South Carolina on Sunday.

Jailin Cherry led LSU (16-11, 7-8) with 17 points.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Chennedy Carter scored 24 points, Ciera Johnson added 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Texas A&M ended Kentucky’s six-game winning streak.

Kayla Wells added 14 points for the Aggies (22-6, 11-4 Southeastern Conference).

Maci Morris had 11 points for Kentucky (23-6, 10-5).

AUBURN, Ala. – Mikiah Herbert Harrigan scored 12 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter to help South Carolina beat Auburn.

Alexis Jennings added 15 points and 10 rebounds for South Carolina (21-1, 13-2), and Tyasha Harrris had 14 points and 10 assists. Janiah McKay scored 21 points for Auburn (20-8, 8-7).

(16) Gonzaga 83, Pepperdine 60

SPOKANE, Wash. – Zykera Rice scored 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting and Gonzaga beat Pepperdine to clinch a tie for the West Coast Conference title.

Chandler Smith added 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Bulldogs (26-3, 15-2), and Laura Stockton had 13 points, six assists and four rebounds.

Deezha Battle had 13 points for the Waves (19-9, 12-5). They had won eight in a row.

(15) Miami 69, Georgia Tech 56

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Beatrice Mompremier had 22 points and 16 rebounds and Miami beat Georgia Tech.

Mykea Gray scored 12 of her 18 points in the second half for the Hurricanes (24-6, 12-3 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Georgia Tech played without coach MaChelle Joseph. She was placed on leave Wednesday due to a “pending personnel matter.” According to Joseph’s lawyer, Joseph has not been told why she was suspended and is left to assume the action is retaliation for her concerns about gender equity matters. Assistant Mark Simons coached the Yellow Jackets (17-11, 7-8).

Freshman Elizabeth Balogun led Georgia Tech with 15 points.

(17) Syracuse 94, (22) Florida State 88

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tiana Mangakahia matched her career high with 44 points to help Syracuse beat Florida State.

Mangakahia, a junior guard from Australia, was 16 of 20 from the field and had eight assists and three steals. Kiara Lewis and Digna Strautmane each had 10 points and the Orange (21-7, 10-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) shot 62 percent.

Nausia Woolfolk scored a career-high 29 points for the Seminoles (21-7, 9-6).
