Area basketball: Ben College scores 30 to lead Whitworth over Lewis & Clark

Ben College scored 30 points on 9-of-14 shooting, and Whitworth cruised to an 89-77 victory against Lewis & Clark on Friday in Portland.

Jordan Lester added 13 points and Ben Bishop and Kyle Roach scored 10 apiece for Whitworth (11-1, 3-0 Northwest Conference), which pushed its winning streak to eight games.

Daelon Floyd paced the Pioneers (4-8, 0-3) with 20 points. Zeke Crawford added 15.

Women’s basketball

Taya Corosdale’s 3-pointer with 2 minutes left gave No. 11 Oregon State the lead and began a 12-4 game-ending run as the Beavers held off Washington State 76-69 in Corvallis.

The Cougars (7-6, 1-1 Pac-12) led 65-61 with 3:21 to go on Chanelle Molina’s jumper, but that was the last basket for WSU.

Mikayla Pivec scored 14 points, Slocum 12 and Aleah Goodman 10 for Oregon State (11-2, 1-0).

Borislava Hristova scored 24 points and Molina had 16 with 10 rebounds for the junior’s first double-double along with six assists for the Cougars.

WSU has lost 10 consecutive games to the Beavers.

(5) Oregon 84, Washington 71: Erin Boley scored a career-high 28 points and Sabrina Ionescu had 18 points and 10 assists to help the Ducks outlast the Huskies in Eugene.

Satou Sabally added 17 points and 12 rebounds as Oregon (12-1) opened defense of its Pac-12 title with its fifth consecutive victory. Ruthy Hebard had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Alexis Griggsby led Washington (7-7, 0-2) with a career-high 26 points off the bench, and Amber Melgoza had 23.

Whitworth 78, Lewis & Clark 69: Camy Aguinaldo had 23 points, five rebounds and four assists as the Pirates defeated the Pioneers in Portland.

Megan Dorney, Sydney Abbott and Madison Abbott added 11 points each for Whitworth (8-4, 3-0 NWC).

Delsie Johnson led Lewis & Clark (2-10, 1-2) with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
