Scotchman winter hike schedule announced

Scotchman Peak overlooks Lake Pend Orielle in Bonner County, Idaho. Although the snow may be flying and the air may be frigid, the Friends of the Scotchman Peaks organization is still leading hikes into the wilds of North Idaho and Montana. (Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilde)

Although the snow may be flying and the air may be frigid, the Friends of the Scotchman Peaks organization is still leading hikes into the wilds of North Idaho and Montana.

Trips vary in length and difficulty. Upcoming hikes include a moderate-to-strenuous hike on Jan. 14 and a moderate hike on Feb. 9.

For more ambitious and experienced hikers, a March 16 hike up Star Peak will get the blood pumping. Follow that up with a March 23 adventure up Goat Mountain to be in great shape going into spring.

Group size is limited and registration is required. To register, visit scotchmanpeaks.org.
