In celebration of Eastern Washington University’s most successful football season since 2010, fans cheered and congratulated players at a rally Saturday in the atrium of River Park Square.

About 200 fans listened to the Athletic Director Lynn Hickey praise the team.

“We were the only Big Sky team to make it to the championship,” she said. “I don’t know what else to say but thank you.”

Members of the marching band, cheerleaders and the team’s mascot joined in the rally.

Josh Kerns, Spokane County Commissioner, also proclaimed the EWU Eagles “Spokane County’s football team.”

EWU President Mary Cullinan said, “I just couldn’t be happier about our amazing team.”
