Mobius pop-up planetarium showing space movie this weekend

UPDATED: Sat., Jan. 12, 2019

From staff reports

Mobius Spokane is hosting a space movie in a pop-up planetarium this weekend called “From Earth to the Universe,” by the European Southern Observatory, at the Mobius Science Center at 331 N. Post St.

“It’s about how we study solar system and other galaxies,” said Jake Milliron, outreach manager. “The show takes you flying through those places.”

The domed planetarium is often brought to schools to fit a classroom-sized crowd, which sits on the ground while a central projector on the floor plays a space-themed movie or a presentation on the curved surface above.

If a local school is interested in experiencing the planetarium, Mobius, a nonprofit, takes it to them and works with a teacher to fit content to a particular grade level, Milliron said.
