Hundreds gather at Idaho Capitol for Womxn’s March

BOISE – Several hundred people rallied in front of the Idaho Capitol for the state’s Womxn’s March.

The Idaho Statesman reports the event Saturday was aligned with a national event, the Women’s March, occurring in Washington, D.C.

Idaho organizers say the name was changed to “Womxn” to be more inclusive to those who might not identify as a woman in the binary sense.

The first Women’s March took place on Jan. 21, 2017, in response to the election of Donald Trump.

Idaho organizer Maddie Oppenheimer says the first march had somewhat of an “angry” theme but the 2019 event focused on kindness.

Former White House communications director Jennifer Palmieri addressed the rally.

She says change since the last presidential election will not keep women from fighting for equality.
