UPDATED: Sat., Jan. 26, 2019

KENNEWICK – Tri-City goaltender Beck Warm turned away 47 of 48 Spokane shots Saturday night as the Americans defeated the Chiefs 3-1 at Toyota Center.

Second-period goals by Sasha Mutala and Riley Sawchuk stood up and Kyle Olson scored an insurance goal with 3 minutes, 57 seconds left in the third period as the Americans snapped a two-game skid.

The Chiefs lost their fifth straight game over nine days, with two of those defeats against Tri-City. Spokane fell to 2-5 against the Americans.

The Chiefs’ Adam Beckman scored his 19th goal, leading all Western Hockey League rookies, at the 15:59 mark of the first period. Jaret Anderson-Dolan had his ninth assist.

Bailey Brkin made 28 saves for Spokane. Chiefs left wing Riley Woods didn’t register a point, but came up strong in the circle all night, winning 13 of 18 face-offs.

The Chiefs, now tied for third with Tri-City in the U.S. Division, fell to 24-17-2-3, good for 53 points. The Americans improved to 25-18-2-1.

Spokane returns to action at home Wednesday night at 7:05 against Portland.
