Crash near Coeur d’Alene on Fourth of July sends Post Falls man named ‘Merica’ to hospital

UPDATED: Fri., July 5, 2019

From staff reports

A two-car crash on Thursday near Coeur d’Alene sent a man to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

Nancy Streich, 62, of Spokane was driving west on Sunup Bay Road at 10:48 p.m. when she ran a stop sign and hit Donald Merica, 60, of Post Falls, who was traveling north on U.S. Route 95, according to a news release from the Idaho State Police.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the news release, and alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash.

Merica was treated and released from Kootenai Health, according to a hospital spokesperson.
