Newport woman was airlifted after suspected DUI crash

UPDATED: Thu., July 11, 2019

A 32-year-old Newport woman was airlifted to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane early Thursday morning following a suspected DUI crash in Pend Oreille County.

Yeny Levasseur was seriously injured when her 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse traveling north on state Highway 2 near milepost 322, about 12 miles south of Newport, exited the roadway to the right, hit a dirt embankment and rolled before coming to a rest on its passenger side, Washington State Patrol said in a news release.

Troopers suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. No other vehicles were involved.
