Area roundup: Idaho Vandals basketball signs Gabe Quinnett

Moscow High star Gabe Quinnett is joining the Idaho men’s basketball team for the 2019-20 season, the Vandals announced on Monday.

A 6-4 guard, Quinnett averaged nearly 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists as a senior for the Bears. He is the son of former Washington State and NBA player Brian Quinnett.

—-Eastern Washington will host Belmont as part of the Gotham Classic on Nov. 26.

The round-robin tournament, hosted by the Gazelle Group, provides four games for each of its participants. In addition to playing Belmont, the Eagles will have road games against Saint Louis, Boston College and High Point.

Among its other operations, the Gazelle Group hosts the posteason College Basketball Invitational.

—-Washington State and Washington will face defending Pac-12 Tournament champion Oregon once during the upcoming men’s basketball season.

The conference announced the matchups for the 18-game conference schedule for 2019-20. In the 18-game schedule teams play four teams once and the other seven teams twice. The Cougars and Huskies will face Oregon and Oregon State once at home and Colorado and Utah once on the road.

The Pac-12 will go to a 20-game conference schedule in the 2020-21 season.

Football

Idaho’s game at Wyoming will kick off at 2 p.m. PDT on Sept. 14 at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, Wyoming, the University of Idaho announced. The game will be carried on ESPN3.
