While in the studio recording its latest full-length “Evolution,” metal quartet Disturbed made sure the album lived up to its name.

“The record showcases the most adventurous and eclectic combination of musical styles and moods that we’ve ever attempted in our careers,” the band wrote on its website. “Each song truly has its own identity, feel and power.”

Calling “Evolution” the most daring record of its career, the quartet – guitarist/keyboardist Dan Donegan, singer David Draiman, bassist John Moyer and drummer Mike Wengren – tried to create without boundaries or limitations and let inspiration take them down whichever path it wanted.

According to the band, those inspirations included some of the classic rock albums they listened to growing up.

The band will bring “Evolution” and hits like “Down With the Sickness,” “Inside the Fire” and “Another Way to Die,” plus, perhaps, its cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s“The Sound of Silence” to Spokane Arena on July 31 as part of the “Evolution” tour.
