BOISE, Idaho – The former Idaho Republican Party chairman was arrested Thursday for stalking his estranged wife, though Jonathan Parker’s lawyer claims it was a “grand misunderstanding.”

Parker appeared at or near his wife’s apartment complex in May and was seen repeatedly hiding in the bushes, masturbating and wearing a wig, Boise police said.

His lawyer said the 39-year-old lobbyist was invited to a costume party on the property.

Parker initially claimed he was trying to scare a different female, police said.

The prosecutor during Parker’ss Friday arraignment noted that his wife has previously reported Parker for staring into her windows.

Parker resigned as state GOP chairman in February, citing his family.

His wife filed for divorce in March and has since been granted a restraining order against him.
