Drag storytime a political stunt
The reading of books by the drag queens appears to be a political stunt pulled off with the blessing of the LGBTQ community, approved by the librarian of the South Hill Library and others. When I volunteer, I dress appropriately.
It’s about “inclusion” right? How about a group of female adult entertainers in their lingerie reading to the children? They can also provide bubbles, glitter, coloring books and balloons as well. If the librarian(s) refuse to grant other groups the same access to read to children, how much exposure to litigation would the city of Spokane have to pay for discriminating against these “groups”?
Libraries are supposed to be a safe, neutral, wondrous place to read, search for information, and check out materials for home.
There are rules to not cause a distraction. The librarian has caused a disruption of the peace at our library. If I did the same, I would be asked to leave or be arrested. The librarian should be disciplined or terminated for this disruption as the posted rules state.
There is a time and a place for everything. Children should not be used as pawns for political agendas one way or the other; unfortunately, they are. Spokane is slowly turning into the disaster Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle are. In my opinion, this event has ruined the reputation of our public libraries. It may expose our city to lawsuits. Our libraries should be for our communities, period; without labels or politics.
