Bobcat seniors prepare for final home games
Though the Montana State seniors don’t want to prematurely end their season, as they enter “The Brick” for the last time on Monday, it’s hard to imagine what it’ll feel like.
“My last time playing in front of these fans here, my last home game with coach Fish and the rest of these guys,” said forward Keljin Blevins. “It’s probably going to be a feeling I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”
“I don’t know if it will really set in until after the season or maybe when I’m giving my speech after the game,” added Sam Neumann.
“It’ll be a little sad,” said Tyler Hall. “Just being here for so long, I’m just used to it now but I’m excited for it. My family will be here, they’ll all be here together for the first time.”
Besides just looking at what’s to come, they each also reflected on how they’ve grown through their time in the blue and gold.
“Started off as a freshman, a young guy, that was just taking a whole lot of advice and following in my older teammates footsteps,” said Blevins. “Now I’m here and I’m one of those guys and I’ve grown so much and matured so much as a man.”
“Coming here I didn’t really know anyone, I was real quiet,” said Hall. “Just having to speak up and be a leader is what’s really helped me a lot. You know, blossom, almost if you would say.”
“I came in pretty immature. I wasn’t getting the minutes I wanted to get and then it all mad sense in the grand scheme of things and I’m happy to be where I ended up,” said Neumann.
As a reality is starting to sink in, the seniors are preparing for the next step on or off of the court.
“My plans before I head out of here, I want to go to the NCAA tournament - so I want to win the conference tournament,” said Blevins.
“I want to go into sales,” added Neumann. “I’m going to check into commercial real estate. I’ve got some places back in the Twin Cities.”
“Try to play professionally somewhere,” said Hall. “Whether that be in the NBA or overseas, try to play somewhere and play basketball as long as I can.”
“I don’t have any plans specifically but I’ll definitely be training,” said Blevins. “I want to go play pro ball so we’ll see what happens after I leave here.”
As for senior Usman Haruna, he’s currently in concussion protocol and is unlikely to play this weekend.
