Women’s basketball: Mikayla Ferenz’s late 3 lifts Idaho to win over Sacramento State

Mikayla Ferenz scored 25 points, including the go-ahead 3-pointer with 30 seconds left, and Idaho defeated Sacramento State 69-65 in Sacramento, California, on Saturday.

Taylor Pierce led the Vandals (18-9, 15-3 Big Sky Conference) with 26 points. Idaho has won five straight games and leads the conference by one game over Northern Colorado. Idaho closes with home games against Weber State and Idaho State as it attempts to clinch the regular-season title.

Gina Marxen added eight assists, all in the first half, for the Vandals.

Hannah Friend led the Hornets (10-16, 6-12) with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Portland State 76, Eastern Washington 57: Sidney Rielly scored 20 points as the Vikings (21-6, 13-5 Big Sky) defeated the Eagles (10-17, 9-9) in Portland.

Kylie Jimenez and Courtney West added 13 points apiece for PSU, which clinched a first-round bye in the Big Sky Tournament.

Uriah Howard led EWU with 17 points. Violet Kapri Morrow finished with eight points, snapping her streak of 27 straight games with double-figure scoring.

The Eagles return home and play Idaho State and Weber State to conclude the regular season.
