HAYDEN – Investigators suspect alcohol was involved in a crash that killed a Cocolalla, Idaho, man north of Hayden on U.S. 95.

Ryan Allen, 38, was killed Saturday when a pickup ran a stop sign and crashed into a van carrying Allen and others headed north on the highway, according to Idaho State Police.

Other van passengers, Patricia Allen, 71, of Cocolalla, and Troy Allen, 51, of Sandpoint, and the van’s driver, Vern Allen, 73, of Cocolalla, were taken to Kootenai Health, a police news release said.

The pickup driver, Cory Kreager, 35, of Priest River, Idaho, was eastbound on Boekel Road at 8:41 p.m. when his black 2008 Ford F-350 ran through the intersection and struck the driver’s side of the 2003 Dodge Caravan, the release said.

Allen was ejected from the van. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

Police say the investigation continues and both vehicles’ occupants were wearing their seat belts.
