Gonzaga’s Rui Hachimura makes Naismith Trophy final four

Gonzaga’s Rui Hachimura is one of four finalists for the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year.

Hachimura is in the running to become Gonzaga’s first Naismith winner. He joins Duke’s Zion Williamson, Tennessee’s Grant Williams and Murray State’s Ja Morant as finalists. Duke has had seven Naismith winners.

Hachimura averages 20.1 points and 6.6 rebounds. He’s a 61 percent shooter from the field and just a fraction less than 47 percent beyond the 3-point arc. He’s made 74 percent at the free-throw line.

The Toyama, Japan, native was recently named West Coast Conference Player of the Year.

Fans will be allowed to vote on the award from March 22-April 3 at naismithtrophy.com/vote and also at the @MarchMadness Twitter page from March 22-27. The fan vote counts for 5 percent of the overall vote.
