Vince Bagby SWX
Carroll College dug themselves an early hole that they could never climb out of as the Saints lost 68-48 to Georgetown College (Ky.) in the men’s NAIA Division I national championship game on Tuesday night in Kansas City, MO. The Tigers jumped in front 14-4 to start the game and led by 20 points at halftime to assert themselves right out of the gates. Dominique Reid led the Tigers with 14 points while Chris Coffey recorded 10 points and 16 rebounds for the national champs. Georgetown has now won three national titles in the last 25 years after recording championship seasons in 1998 and 2013 as well. Saints senior Match Burnham led Carroll with 17 points in the losing effort. Carroll College finished the season with a 29-8 record under first year head coach Kurt Paulson.
