Accused Subway robber arrested in Pend Orielle County Tuesday

A man suspected of robbing a Spokane Valley Subway was arrested in Pend Oreille County on Tuesday following a tip from a bystander.

Matthew D. Gardner, 34, was booked into Spokane County Jail with the help of the Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Gardner is suspected of robbing the Subway sandwich shop at 2114 N. Pines Road with a knife on March 1. He faces a robbery and an assault charge, according to the news release.
