Prep baseball: Cody Davenport leads Coeur d’Alene to win over Post Falls in districts
Cody Davenport allowed one run on five hits and struck out five over six innings and top-seeded Coeur d’Alene (20-1) edged fourth-seeded Post Falls (6-15) 2-1 in an Idaho 5A District 1-2 first-round game on Monday.
Alex Karns picked up the save and drove in a run for CdA, which hosts Lewiston on Tuesday in the district title game.
Lewiston 2, Lake City 1: Dalton Hart allowed one unearned fun on four hits with three strikeouts and the Bengals (12-7) edged the visiting Timberwolves (7-12) in an Idaho 5A District 1-2 first-round game.
Dawson Bonfield went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Lewiston. Lake City hosts Post Falls in a loser-out game on Tuesday.
Sandpoint 12, Lakeland 4: The visiting Bulldogs (9-14) beat the top-seeded Hawks (9-11) in the first game of the Idaho 4A District 1-2 best-of-three championship series. Game 2 is Wednesday at Sandpoint.
Sandpoint eliminated Moscow (8-10) 10-5 in the district play-in game earlier in the day.
Grangeville 13, St. Maries 7: The visiting Bulldogs (13-8) beat the top-seeded Lumberjacks (9-4) in the deciding game of the Idaho 2A District 1-2 round-robin to earn a berth to state. St. Maries moves on to a state play-in game on Saturday.
Golf
Cameron Johnson shot 70 for a four-stroke victory and led Lake City to the Idaho 5A District 1-2 boys title at Coeur d’Alene Golf Course. The Timberwolves edged Coeur d’Alene 311-315 for the team title. Lake City’s Kyla Currie shot 81 to lead the Timberwolves girls to the district title.
