State baseball: Mt. Spokane ousted in quarterfinals of 3A tourney

Ricky Koishida went 2 for 3 with three runs and Lake Washington (24-2) beat Mt. Spokane (22-3) 10-2 in a 3A State quarterfinal at Yakima County Stadium on Saturday.

In an earlier first-round game, Stu Flesland tossed a one-hitter and knocked in the go-ahead run as the Wildcats downed Timberline (11-11) 2-1.

Federal Way 6, Central Valley 2: Josh Mears hit two solo home runs and the Eagles (21-4) eliminated the visiting Bears (21-4) in a 4A State first-round game at Everett Stadium.

2A State

Columbia River 5, West Valley 1: Nick Adler tossed a five-hitter with seven strikeouts and the Chieftains (19-5) eliminated the Eagles (10-8) in a first-round game at Auburn HS.

1A state

Colville 8, Freeman 3: Jake Lindquist allowed one run over four innings and the Indians (19-2) beat the Scotties (11-5) in a quarterfinal at Larson Field in Moses Lake. Grant Michalizsyn added two hits for Colville, which plays Seattle Christian in a semifinal on Friday.

Freeman 10, Royal 1: Jace Phelan tossed a three-hitter and hit a home run and the Scotties (14-4) beat the Knights (16-5) in a first-round game.

Colville 9, Zillah 7: John Knight drove in two and the Indians eliminated the Leopards (16-5) in a first-round game.

2B State

Brewster 11, Colfax 1: …in a state quarterfinal at Wenatchee HS.

Colfax 2, Tonasket 1: Layne Gingerich struck out seven in a two-hitter and the Bulldogs (17-4) beat the Tigers (13-6) in a first-round game.

Brewster 7, Northwest Christian 0: Mason Kelly went drove in two runs and the Bears (20-3) eliminated the Crusaders (9-8).

1B State

Odessa 12, Colton 2: Theron Schlomer drove in three and the Tigers (19-2) eliminated the Wildcats (15-8) in a semifinal at W.F. West HS. Odessa advances to the state final on Saturday. Colton eliminated Quilcene 9-0 in a first-round game.

Odessa 11, Naselle 2: Tim DeWulf struck out 12 over six innings and the Tigers (18-2) eliminated the Comets (16-4) in a first-round game.
