State softball: Makenna Oliver delivers and Almira/Coulee-Hartline wins consecutive 1B championship games

Makenna Oliver hit a two-run triple in the third inning and Almira/Coulee-Hartline beat Colton 2-1 to win its second consecutive State 1B championship at Gateway Sports Complex in Yakima on Saturday.

ACH (25-1) beat Colton (19-5) 6-3 in the regional championship game on Sunday.

Sarah Bradshaw allowed one unearned run on six hits and one walk in a complete game. Colton’s Emily Schultheis struck out five over six innings and allowed two runs on three hits and a walk.

The Warriors made their 11th consecutive trip to state and have placed fourth or better in eight of the past nine seasons, including two titles, four seconds and two thirds.

ACH outscored its opponents 378-41 this season.

Inchelium 6, Pomeroy 2: Meika Heath struck out 13 in a complete game and the Hornets (13-7) beat the Pirates (19-7) in the State 1B third-place game at Gateway Sports Complex.

Sammi Stensgar drove in a pair of runs for Inchelium. Pomeroy’s Kiley Davis tied it with a two-run double in the fourth before Inchelium pulled away.

Pomeroy beat Naselle 11-2 in a loser-out earlier in the day, and Inchelium topped Wishkah Valley 11-1 to reach the third-place game as Heath struck out nine in a complete game and Rylee Desautel had three triples.

2B

Northwest Christian 8, Chewelah 3: Alison Shaler went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and pitched a complete game, Sydney Frampton drove in three runs and the Crusaders (23-4) beat the Cougars (18-9) in the State 2B third-place game at Gateway Sports Complex.

Ellie Sander drove in two runs and Amree Tibbetts added three hits for NWC. Zandra Nelson went 3 for 4 with an RBI while Madison Koler and Abby Fuller added two hits apiece for Chewelah.

The Crusaders eliminated Kittitas/Thorp (22-7) 11-1 in a loser-out earlier. Shaler struck out 12 in a complete game and went 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Jordan Rabe and Sydney Frampton added three hits apiece for NWC.

Chewelah eliminated Liberty (15-9) 12-3 in an earlier loser-out as Fuller went 3 for 5 with four RBIs and Koler went 2 for 5 with three RBIs.

Central Valley lost to Camas 4-2 in a consolation-round game at Merkel Sports Complex. The Bears fell to Tahoma 10-6 in a first-round game earlier in the day in a game that was postponed from Friday due to rain.
