Spokane Valley man in serious condition after ejection from car during rollover crash

UPDATED: Tue., Nov. 5, 2019

A 21-year-old Spokane Valley man was transported to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center on Monday night after he was ejected from his vehicle during a single-car rollover crash on State Route 27.

Dylan Thomas was attempting to pass another vehicle on southbound State Route 27 about two miles south of Fairfield when his Kia Rio left the roadway on the northbound side of the highway and struck an embankment around 7:45 p.m., according to Washington State Patrol.

Thomas’ car rolled back across the highway to the northbound shoulder, ejecting Thomas, who was not wearing a seat belt, according to WSP. Thomas’ car came to rest in a creek off the side of the highway.

Thomas was listed in serious condition at Sacred Heart on Tuesday morning, according to the hospital.

The highway was fully blocked while WSP and Spokane County Sheriff’s investigators were on scene, according to WSP. Law enforcement left the scene when the road was cleared just after 10:45 p.m.

WSP investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, according to a news release.
