Coeur d’Alene High School student suspected of threatening school shooting arrested

A 15-year-old Coeur d’Alene High School student suspected of threatening to shoot up the school was arrested Monday evening, according to Coeur d’Alene police.

A small group of students overheard a male student talking about a school shooting earlier that day and a parent reported it to the police, according to a news release.

Coeur d’Alene officers and detectives conducted several interviews and contacted the suspect with his family at their residence, according to a news release. Police arrested him on a charge of threatening violence on school grounds.

Coeur d’Alene police said they are confident no other individuals are associated with the suspect’s alleged threats and there is no ongoing threat, according to a news release.

Police conducted additional interviews with potential witnesses during the school day Tuesday, according to a news release.
