Spokane man arrested after threatening people with knives, police say

Officers used a stun gun to take a Spokane man into custody Tuesday afternoon after he threatened his girlfriend’s father with a knife and stopped traffic, police said.

A man reported a domestic violence situation in the 5900 block of North Almeda Street at about 1:15 p.m. and told police his daughter’s boyfriend, Reishawn M. Baker, tried to attack him.

The caller told police Baker left the home with multiple knives and was now locked outside.

Baker reportedly said law enforcement would have to shoot him to get him into custody, according to a Spokane Police Department statement.

Before officers arrived, he went into the intersection of North Driscoll Boulevard and West Winston Drive, stopped traffic and waved knives at passing cars, police said.

When officers arrived on scene Baker was noncompliant and continued to hold the knives out, according to the police statement.

After Baker reportedly told police he wanted them to shoot him, police used a stun gun and took him into custody.

Baker was medically cleared at a local hospital before he was booked into Spokane County Jail.

Baker was charged with pedestrian interference, disorderly conduct and display of a dangerous weapon.
