One person dead, three Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies injured during early-morning shooting

Three Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies were injured and one person died early Monday morning after a traffic stop devolved into a shooting in northern Franklin County.

The deputies were responding to a report of a prowler around 3 a.m. in the area of Sagehill Road and Hollingsworth Road when they attempted to stop a vehicle, according to a news release. The attempted stop resulted in a shootout with the occupant of the vehicle.

The occupant of the car died, and all of the deputies were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital, according to a news release.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office will release more information at a news conference at 1 p.m.
