Spokane County unemployment rate increases to 4.8% in October
Spokane County’s unemployment rate increased to 4.8% in October, according to nonseasonally adjusted data from the Washington State Employment Security Department.
The county added 2,100 nonfarm jobs and 100 private-sector positions in October, compared with September, according to the department.
The construction sector dropped 1,300 jobs in October. The service-providing sector added 3,400 jobs, the government sector posted 2,000 new jobs and the education and health services sector gained 1,500 jobs last month.
The county’s unemployment rate was 4.7% in September and 4.5% in October 2018.
The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.5% in October.
