Grocery Outlet Bargain Market opens in Cheney

After months of construction, Grocery Outlet Bargain Market has opened a new location in Cheney.

Dan Dover of Texas-based Main & Main Capital Group LLC filed an application with the city in March to build the 16,456-square-foot store at 2533 W. First St.

Cassie McManus and Duran Slater are owners and operators of the store, which opened Thursday.

Emeryville, California-based Grocery Outlet, founded as an extreme-value retailer in 1946, carries fresh produce, meat, dairy, health care, beauty and seasonal items. It has grown to more than 300 stores in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington.

In addition to the newly-opened Cheney store, Grocery Outlet has four locations in the Spokane area.
