Banana Republic conundrum
In a Banana Republic laws don’t apply to the elite, until they are out of power, then they can be prosecuted.
A sympathetic, but devastating, article in the July 8 New Yorker paints Hunter Biden as a drug addict and adulterer with poor judgement who takes his vacations in drug rehab spas. The only thing he has to sell is his connection to his father, a prominent U.S. politician for forty years, and he has done quite well. For our Press and politicians to declare it off limits to look into the timing of Hunter Biden’s wealth due to connections in China, and the dropping of a corruption investigation in Ukraine, makes us look like a Banana Republic.
For Trump to pursue investigation of these unseemly circumstances, involving a political opponent, makes us look like a Banana Republic.
If the apparent corruption of the Bidens and Clintons is pursued by the Trump administration, Trump will be accused of Banana Republic tactics. It is the difference between reality and appearance. Reality and rule of law demands investigation of Joe Biden’s involvement in Hunter’s sudden wealth due to connections in China and Ukraine. Appearance demands dropping the matter.
A conundrum.
