A man died after his truck drove through a brick roundabout in Liberty Lake just after 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The truck came to rest on top of the roundabout at the intersection of Mission Avenue and Harvest Parkway. The Liberty Lake Police Department responded to the single-vehicle crash and found a male driver to be the only occupant.

Spokane Valley Fire Department engine 3 was dispatched to the scene and called for an extrication response, said spokeswoman Julie Happy.

The driver’s injuries were initially listed as critical. He was transported to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center where he died just after 5 a.m.

Police believe speed and alcohol caused the accident, and the driver was not wearing his seat belt.

“There was extensive damage done to the roundabout,” Happy said.
