Celebrate all holidays

While reading the White House Roundup about Giuliani’s subpoena in the Oct. 1 Spokesman-Review, I was taken aback by a side statement in the article that said “With Congress out of session for observance of the Jewish holidays …”

I have immense respect for Jews, their history and gigantic contribution to mankind, but Congress in America observing Jewish holidays? Then how about British, Italian, German, Greek, Iranian (Old Babylon) holidays, to name a few? These nations also educated the world with their laws, art, music and ingenuity. Our country is established by their offspring and legacy, which, together with Jewish, is what makes and enriches America today.
